wheel of time prints available

more wheel of time characters...just my own personal take on some of the great characters from robert jordan's awesome series---

prints are now available for some of my wheel of time artwork from imagekind, which you can find here, in the wheel of time gallery--currently, i have a small handful of WoT characters and graphic novel covers available, but i will be adding to the selection regularly...all of the images that are available for prints must be approved by harriet mcdougal (robert jordan's wife), so in most cases i have gone back into the original piece and cleaned it up, and in some cases i've redone characters altogether--i also have a personal work gallery, which i hope to add more pieces to, as well--

I must say that I have searched the web for Wheel of Time art that captures me. Yours is the only art I have found that completely took me by storm! The drawings are incredible! Thanks for your work! AMAZING!

Holding my breath for Lanfear!

Amazing work. Perrin is one of my favourites, together with Uno, Semirhage and Logain. I had pictured them slightly differently, but I have to say that your depictions have overcome what I had imagined.

Gonna keep checking back for any more updates (hint hint ;-))

Luthine said...

Really like your work. The gardener one is breath taking as well as Faile's and Asmodean's. They truly give the sense of depth and darkness that goes with these characters.
I hope you're working on some other WoT-designs ^^

Literally mesmerizing work. My few previous trips to the dragonmount.com user galleries resulted in more than a few cringes and gags, but from my first glimpse of your art I was blown away. Glad I found my way over to your blog and checked out the rest of your designs, too -- I have to say again, I can barely tear my eyes away these designs and your flawless execution of them!

Slippy said...

I want a new one. Not blaming you , but I just can't wait to the next it has been a while, I just hope it is not too much longer.

I do truly appreciate you work, so please don't take this as a demand or anything, just as a compliment on how much I enjoy your art.

Jan said...

Love your stuff. Saw it on Dragonmount at first and thought it brought the wheel of time characters to life like nothing I've ever seen. I just saw your new 'logain' pic. Haunting, powerful and just plain awesome. Got a Marcus Cole type look goin' on, I think.

Wolfbrother said...

I know everyone has said how much they love your work, but I just have to re-interate it. This is the first work in which my images of the characters were actually brought to life and looking at some of these actually left me breathless. Although in an ideal world Frank Frazetta would be around to draw the characters (and RJ would be here to keep writing), your work has a great feel to it and I second someone's earlier post about wanting poster sized work.

After you finish the characters themselves (Elyas would be amazing) and if you have the time, I thought it might be interesting to do scenes from the books.

Any way, thank you for the work you have done and keep it up.

Hey Seamas, it's your buddy Devin here. Frequent visitor and comment maker on every drawing you submit. I've been absent of late working on a commercial deal and a film. Now i'm back and i see its been awhile since u posted up any WoT art. I'm not trying to rush you because that is just stupid. I am actually just wondering if there is an update that you can give us on what may be in progress with the series. Like who are you working on or if ur swamped with work and can't get to it. A mind easer if you will...lol anyway i am going to resume coming here everyday as was the norm before my workload hit me so if thats what it is i understand. Well Let us know if ya want man, and look forward to the next posting. BTW i still check in on the Potluck too, Always fun to see what u guys are all doing. That and Jeremy has some cool WoT stuff i've seen too. Later man.

seamas said...

re: dvelazquez

hey man, thanks for the post--congrats on your commercial deal and film--! you are right...it's been a while since i last updated my WoT section--recently i've involved myself in several other projects, which have taken time away from working on WoT stuff, and even more recently, my wife and i just had a baby, which has taken up most of my time as of late--i am currently working on lanfear, and about halfway done, i reckon...i also started a gareth bryne in between working on the forsaken, so i hope to slide him in, as well, as soon as i can steel away for some "art" time...

thanks for continuing to stop by and check out this section...i hope to soon get cranking on more WoT stuff as time permits--! :)

RE: Seamas

Cool man, Congrats on the baby, now I and everyone should have some serious perspective. Family should always come first man. Hell I don't have kids but my brother does and I put his son above everything so trust me I get it.

So you are working on Lanfear and Gareth. Thats awesome. Yea its all good though man like I said I and everyone else are too into it to not come back and check...lol...

Also thanks for the congrats man, I am doing both for school, I am a film student, but they are both real and the commercial will actually be aired locally in Orlando. The film project is a remake of a Twilight Zone Episode. Can't divulge more than that until its done but its exciting. I start shooting second week of April. Have fun and enjoy your family man and keep up the inspirational work. Seeing it everyday makes me strive to be delicious too...lol and step up my skills in bringing visions to life. It's all appreciated.

Jesus man....wow, just wow.
I have been reading this series since '91. I've read each book countless times, I re-read the series for every new book...I just want to give you an idea of how much I like these books.
Your drawings are freakin incredible. I am amazed at how you pulled the characters from the book. I see your drawings and they make me want to read the series again. There may be some inconsistincies, but man, they are spot on imo. I can honestly say, I wish you had done the covers and all of the art associated with this series. What's the chance of you re-doing the covers?
Truly-freakin-amazing!! I absolutely can't wait for new releases! Please keep them coming and get ahold of RJ's estate, very well done.

Justin said...

Oh, and GRATS on the new addition to the household!!!

rizzo said...

wow...Lanfear is awesome. Really really good :D
We've all been waiting for soooo long :P

Mat said...

Ah, at last! Looks very good. Not quite how I imagined her, but it works very well. I think the time you invested paid off, I like her alot better than many of the other female characters (which are still good, mind you).

Brandon said...

And lo, there was great rejoicing in the Interwebs! Lanfear has been unveiled!

Idle Bigots said...

WOW...

I'm glad you didn't draw Lanfear as some sexy knockout. She's supposed to have that classic, timeless beauty and you pulled it off perfectly.

Rich Boye said...

Lanfear is perfect! She's aloof and glacial and refined like a Geisha - plus I like the unusual line of her dress and the simple almost-futuristic jewelry.

One of the best in your gallery.

John said...

Great job on Lanfear... beautiful and still unique. Glad to have you back at the job... and by "job" of course, I mean I'm glad to have you back doing work without getting paid.

Jaania said...

All of it is amazing, and wonderful job on Lanfear. Her stance, outfit, jewelry and expression are all so perfect, she's really quite beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do next, and you're definitely an inspiration.

Keep up the great work!

CecilFrancis said...

She is so friggin' awesome. I do not think you f'ed it up at all. To be as creepy as possible, the curvature of her breast is perfection. Unlike the pirate hooker Graendal, she is class and grace personified. I have replaced everything in my imagination with your interpretations.
Thank you.

Mysterion said...

OH. MY. GOD. Lanfear looks perfect! Absolutely wonderful!

Woohoo! Lanfear!

Man I really hope you read this post my friend because you have literally lifted my day to a level beyond cloud nine. Heres the scenario: I woke up So early God hadn't even woken up yet, and I went and got all my gear packed up for the commercial i shot today. But to back up a day, my Producer pulled the rug out from under me YESTERDAY by telling me we had to shoot today. So naturally i had to wing a commercial from the depths of my ASS i had to pull it out. We did the best we could but in my opinion it had no chance of not suckin anus. Then i come home, click on here and the portrait i've been waiting on and we talked about for so long is waiting for me while im stressed and pissed and lo and behold it all rolls away when i see Lanfear. You've blown me away again my friend thanks for what you do and good luck w/ the family.

nifaqua said...

It's a good piece of work, but I'm seeing a few things that just don't look right. First, you made her look in certian respects to much like Semirhage. The breasts are to large b/c idk about you but everything i've read about lanfear indicates she's more on the petite side rather then the Graendal side of lush. The clothes are just about perfect, the ornaments she has about her head make her look a bit to much like Moiraine for my taste. The haughty expression on her face was appropriate for someone like Semirhage who's character almost demands it, but Lanfear would have looked better w/ a pensive look, pout, or subtle smile. The skin and hair contrast are great even if it kind of looks like you rushed it rather then really polishing it up like you did w/ your other work, but that's understandable w/ a new baby and everything that accompanies that level of responsibility. Dispite a few things that kind of erked me about this, overall it is still one of the two best pictures i have ever seen someone draw of her. Overall good job and keep up the good work. (And yes i know people are gonna hate me for this, but personally constructive criticism is better for people then just sycophantic comments that all say the same general thing.)

Storm said...

Awesome Lanfear, Seamas... I love the way you've made her so beautiful, with an underlying hint of evil.

Slippy said...

"Dispite a few things that kind of erked me about this, overall it is still one of the two best pictures i have ever seen someone draw of her."

I would be curious to see the other one.

I think it is great. I am glad to see such positive comments, as I was worried that the hype of a Lanfear portrait would create unreasonable expectations.

Looking forward to the continuation of this series.

Thanks again Seamas

dublestro said...

IDK if this will work but here's that picture i was talking about. Few things i didn't like about it, but it does her more justice then any except probably seamas' pic.

Hey, stumbled onto your blog from DragonMount. Just have to say your interpretations are some of the best I've seen. From design to color. I'm totally ga ga over Tuon and Perrin to name a couple. Keep up the excellent work and don't let the nitpickers bother ya. I can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Brian said...

Lanfear is EXACTLY as I pictured her. Thank you for taking the time to do this kind of work. It is keeping me sane while the last book is being written. I look forward to your future work as much as Memory of Light. Best of luck with the new baby!

Hey, I love what you're doing with the Forsaken. A quick question, something that's probably already been asked a few times - any plans to go back to the older portraits and fill them out a bit more? Or at least, let their legs continue off the page? The new characters really take advantage of their space, and it's a bit sad to see Rand and Elayne and Min fade off into nothingness.

Bunny said...

Once again - Wow.

The characters I've always had the hardest time seeing in my head were always Min and Lanfear. The moment I saw both of your pictures, I stopped, looked at them, and said "Yeah, that's it." The Lanfear you have is so expressive - the expression, stance, the royal air - it's how I picture Lanfear picturing herself.

Luthine said...

Hi, I've made an avatar from your Lanfear design to use it on my Dragonmount account , I of course credited you but I wanted to know if it's okay with you?
If not, I'll immediately remove ;)

Hey Seamas. I really enjoy your work. It is absolutely sensational. I think the WoT characters are my fav's seeing ive started to read the books just recently. Absolutely awesome series, my fav's for sure. I know u get this alot but i would love to see pics of Cyndane and Moridin. Keep up the great work and hope to see some more soon

bazooie said...

some of these are spot on with how I imagine them. Yay for Seams.

J E said...

Just WOW! I think your depictions of the WoT characters are freaking amazing!

You've inspired me to start using the computer to colour my images instead of gouache or paint :P

It's really nice to put a name to a face for the characters who I couldn't quite picture in my mind esp. Siuan, Egwene and Nyneave, Rand's girls and Birgitte.
It's also good to see a physical face for the characters like Moiraine, Thom and the Ta'veren who are exactly the way I imagined them while reading the books... Oh, and Logain, who is exactly the cool, calm and mysterious guy described in the books, I'd never quite grasped his look mentally but your depiction is the face I see when I read now...

Can't wait to see your take on Be'lal, Belthamel(Ar'angar), Demandred, Gawyn, Galad, Elaida, Cadsuane, Juilin, Tallanvor, Olver, Berelain, Tylin, Suroth, well basically anything you do actually :D

Ooh, and maybe a gholam and some Seanchan beasts? :P

So, Thank-you for allowing me to view these. It's enriching towards my reading experience of WoT (I'm up to Winter's Heart)

These are freakin EPIC man, good job, especially love the one of Mat. *In head he is the most epic character in the books* But the others are just as awesome

Oh and If its alright if i make a suggestion. Mat's dagger, I've seen soooo many fan arts of it that look horrible but some are alright, it would be awesome if you made cause your skills are that good xD

Mandragoran said...

I'm very astounding! They looks exactly like i thought while reading
Rahvir,Sammael, Thom, Brigitte, Nynaeve e Perrin are really so perfect!!!!the others are just a "step" backwards, but they are fantastic too.
Considered your skill I have forwarded the curiosity to see other characters,
so i want to ask you if yuo have intention to draw other picture; for example, Elaida, Cadsuade, Verin, Alanna, qualche Asha'man , Bashere, Brine, Masema, Galad, Elyas, Nalesean, Niall, Juilin, Shaiar Haran,Berelain, Sheriam, Sorilea, qualche Aiel, Tam, Gawyn...rereading them all are too much, I know!
I look forward to your new drawings!

Marie said...

These are simply amazing! They've been incredibly helpful with the characters I'd had trouble visualising. Can't wait for even more!

Steff said...

These WoT are AWESOME! Do you use a software or something to make these or do you just draw them, scan them, and paint them? I like to draw to, but when I draw characters like this it never works out. As in the end up looking really bad or not like I want them to.

I hope to see Gawyn, Galad, Egwene (Maybe as Amyrlin), and maybe some more Seanchan. That would be so awesome. Great Job!!

Anonymous said...

hey, great designs! Though some characters look a bit diffrent from what I imagined they look very good! I was wondering: are you going to make more then only characters? For example a situation in the book, I think that would be great!

Im looking forward to next designs!

Unknown said...

Wow, these are incredible! Everyone is how I pictured them, but with most, I only had a vague idea in my head of what they looked like, and these pics nail them for me. They filled in the blanks in my head really well, especially with characters like Moghedien and Mesaana. I only wish I could be such an artist! Again, absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to see more!!

I sometimes randomly image-google names of book characters I like to see if I imagine characters the same way other people do, and I came across your art. I just want to tell you that your stuff is ridiculous, and by ridiculous, I mean Friggin' Sweet.

I am wondering what I have to do to purchase some printed cards from you, with ALL your WOT characters. By now, you SHOULD be selling some, right? Because you rock? Because everyone should have some? I just started reading the wheel of time a few months ago and am now to 11, and am so sadly obsessed. Your WOT art is absolutely perfect, and I want some to have and frame and look at, always.

Let me know what I need to do to get some! Prints, mind you, I am broke, and considering how awesome your stuff is there is no WAY I could afford originals.

Your Berelain is great! I Love it! I have been hiding in the shadows of your blog for a long time without posting. All of your art is great, but as a WOT nerd I love it the best. I am never disappointed with your work. I anticipate your next character drawings like I anticipate "A MEMORY OF LIGHT". Have you read any of Brandon Sanderson’s work? If so, have you thought about trying to capture any of his characters (Mim from MISTBORN, etc)? Congrats on your little one (a bit late). I have a two and a half year old girl. Enjoy every moment.

beautiful Be'lal! too bad posts come seldom these days... =/

Andy said...

Spectacular Be'lal. He has all the airs that a Tairen High Lord should, and his fencing rapier is the perfect accessory. I had pictured in my mind's eye, a blade similar to Rand's heron-mark, but it makes perfect sense that he would use a dueling weapon if he actually took the time to learn swordplay as a sport! Awesome! (Plus I love seeing a variety of weaponry)

Keep on keeping on. Hope the little one doesn't slow you down too much =)

I'm a huge fan of "Fantasy Art" and WOT ,love the books. And your take on the characters is amazing the best I've seen. Would love to see your visions of "The sword of truth" as well as action all the other WOT characters. keep up the Great work!!

neat attention to detail... would like to suggest an addition to "Lord" Logain's portrait... quoting from knife of dreams (book 11), Ch 22, pg 485:

"A round pin fastened to his left shoulder showed three golden crowns against blue enamel. A sigil perhaps?"

should i add a "pretty please" to this request? :-)... thanx for adding to the WOT lore through these awesome pics (thumbs up)

You have GOT to get in touch with Universal somehow, who bought the film rights to WoT. This is the only artwork of the series I've ever seen that nails it EVERY time, down to the clothing, the expressions, everything! They would do well to get you involved, hell, I'll petition them to get you involved, hehe. Seriously though, if they took your work into consideration when making these movies, the movies will have a much much better chance of being awesome. I'm blown away each time I come to your site, and it wasn't until seeing your Shaidar Haran that I finally understood why Myrrdraal are so feared.

Listen to Rachel!

If you were involved in the concept art for the WoT movie I would rest much easier

John said...

Awesome... he looks very John Wayne. Is that a rich Columbian blend in his hand? haha
Making a new computer wallpaper of him right now :)

I've listened to the audiobooks twice now... they're such great readers, though it makes it difficult to talk about the series with someone who has only read them, mainly because I feel like a tool for correcting their pronunciation.

Gareth looks perfect. Older warrior, looks like he's enjoying tormenting suian or something. Love it.

Devin V. said...

Okay man...since u seem to already know its not perfect and dead on like most of your works i wont be harsh...not that i ever am...but i distinctly recall the books saying Gareth is balding. He is one character i dont really have a vision of one way or another but i'm sure the bald thing is true. I had to put of re reading for awhile though. Can't wait to see Galad. Great Gareth... Looks a bit like Tom Selleck. Love the Andoran Lion on his armor. You could put him at the top, next to Be'Lal, hmm? That way people won't have to remember that the update date has changed :D.

Maybe it was that damn horrible book cover art....lol oh well cant wait for the new ones.

Nice Gareth Bryne, have you thought of perhaps doing a piece with all five of the (original) great captains. Contrasting both their appearance and manner.

Outwardly foppish Rodel Ituralde, scheming Pedron Niall, bluff and honest Gareth Bryne, formal and severe Agelmar Jared and of course Davram Bashere.

Beryl Kruger said...

Absolutely inspiring!

Wonderful Gareth: Perfect capture of self-confidence in a seasoned veteran. The.. hmmm.. mood (?) of the picture is great; a warm cup in his hand, with what appears to be dawn at his back. It tells a great story with no words or need of further explanation. Wonderful interpretation, and love the Andoran plate armor.

1. I never read all the posts before me, but i am in awe for their sheer number.

2. I absolutely love *most* of your drawings, though i thought you could add more of an aiel touch to Avendhia, and make Elayne look prettier?

the rest are just perfect, love to see we imagine the book so similarly, hats of to (R.I.P) Robert Jordan for that..

Keep it up, looking forward to your new work.

And oh a suggestion, i would LOVE to see how you imagine Lews therin and his wife 9cant get her name right now) ..

Hello, I've just stopped by to tell you how amazing this portraits are.

I've been listening to WOT on audiobook as well (on book 6, woot!) and I must say in my minds eye the characters are exactly how you portray them. I have to admit, in the past, when a new character was introduced, I rushed here to see if you had done a portrait for them yet!

Your artwork is really making the series so much more enjoyable for me! Thank you!

I haven't been on your site in a while, so there are a number of new ones, I have to say that your Berelain and Belal are amazing.. Galad is awesome to, but I was under the impression that he had golden blonde hair, unless I just pictured him like that, but i'm not sure...either way, everything from the armor to the way the character presents himself is just the way I picture it should be....
you are a very talented artist, I'm saying that as a person who enjoys to draw characters as well...keep it up!!

Thom is so perfect!! but I thought that Berelain looked way prettier than Lanfear (with Lanfear being considered the prettiest woman of her age) I know it's just opinion but I though it worth mentioning :) regardless, your work is amazing! Please give us more! I thought Faile looked a little masculine, whatever! Thanks again for the artwork!!!

Okay here i am your greatest fan and critique extraordinaire! Alright so I am relieved Galad is up and he is quite well done. I like some of the changes to Lanfear but i like the face of the first pass. Lets see oh yeah I keep looking at Faile because she is one of my favorite characters and I keep thinking she looks too old. She is younger than Perrin but she looks in her 30's or 40's. My vision of her takes human form in Andrea Fimbres. Check her out and you will see what i mean.

My manly request is for you to takle Selucia, Tuons Maiden/Bodyguard. I gotta see what ya come up with. Hope the ones you are working on are coming along well. Keep it up its all deadly!

Thank you for breathing life into the wonderful assortment of characters from the Wheel of Time. Up to this point I have seen no depictions any better than yours; having to make do with the cover art on the books themselves was sheer torture.
I would LOVE to see you go beyond the characters and visit some of the locales.
Thank you again, masterful work.

John said...

I saw your Rand at Dragonmount... it looks awesome. I've been checking this post almost daily for a year-and-a-half, so I was very excited to see you connected to an official WoT project. Congratulations, I know that getting to work on something that you're so interested in must especially be a lot of fun, hopefully this is the start of a much larger Wheel of Time career for you.

I noticed that the other two pieces of work aren't yours... are you just doing the covers or are you more involved than that?

Devin V. said...

Wow man congrats on the Graphic novel stuff man. Love the pics by both you and Saliba. I am gonna try to be at JordanCon but I have lots of film stuff coming up. I am also trying to get on board the Eye of the World movie production team. Hope I see ya there if I go man. Can't wait for the new pics.

Liz Sedai said...

I agree. Absolutely phenominal! hey, would u mind doing one of gawyn and egeanin?? Your artwork is so phenominal - you truly are the most amazing wheel of time character-capturer i've ever seen! Keep up the amazing work!

seamas said...

thanks very much for all of your comments--! i've been busy with a lot of stuff lately, so i haven't been able to actually finish a piece very regularly--big surprise, i know--but the cool thing is that one of the projects that has kept me busy is wot graphic novel, which has been a real treat to be a part of--

re: rachel
thanks for your most gracious comments! i would indeed be interested in becoming involved as a concept artist for the wot movie, that would be quite an opportunity--i'm very curious as to how they end up handling the whole movie thing...that could be a very delicate situation...

re: dvelazquez
hey man, thanks for stopping by again--! i do plan on getting to tuon's body guard, selucia--she's going on the list! as far as getting to jordancon, i don't know if i'll be able to make it, but we'll see--good luck on getting on the production team for the wot movie--let me know how that pans out--

re: john
thanks for the kind words--! yes, it's been awesome to actually be connected to a serious wot project--my buddy jeremy saliba and i are pretty excited to be able to contribute to it--per your question regarding covers, for now, jeremy and i will be doing variant covers for the series--again, thanks for your comments!

re: liz sedai
i definitely plan on doing one of gawyn and egeanin--i think a post-broken tower version of gawyn would be neat, and i'm on the fence on how to portray egeanin--i haven't really explored the seanchan look that much, and i'm tempted to portray her from when we first meet her, in book 2 (i think?)

again, thank you for all of the comments--!

Devin V. said...

I had a spark while re reading our favorite series. Yes he only makes an appearance in book 1 and I am on book 3 while I had the inspiration but I would love to see you and Saliba take a crack at the Green Man. I can't get this damn vision of the Jolly Green Giant so I want to be swayed out of it visually. My prior requests still stand but this is something to think about.

Mat said...

Green Man has always been one of my favourites as well. So yes, please do give it a shot!

However, he does not only appear in the first book, but is mentioned again during flashbacks to the Age of Legends, when the world starts to fall appart and a desperate few try to set everything in place for a better future (eye of the world ect.) I'm not sure the current portrait format would do him full justice though, as his beauty lies within his interaction with nature. As one can see, I spent way too much time thinking about it :)

The new work is, as usual, absolutely amazing. Glad to hear you got to work on the graphic novel, I haven't seen any work on the web better suited for it.

pao said...

oh wow. Your characters are amazing! I especially liked Uno, Siuan, Birgitte, Thom, Bayle Domon, Galad, Logain and Min!

Also because I haven't finished the series, the way i picture the characters are strongly influenced by your art. Your Trollocs are impressive :D

if only you were doing a graphic novel of WoT..

b0bb33z3r said...

Graphic Novel?! WHOA! Fantastic news! Sign me up x10! I just saw your Gareth and Galad, fantastic work! Since you're keeping a list, care to throw Chel Vanin and Tam Al'Thor in the mix :)

Devin V. said...

I know the Green Man shows up in the flashbacks, I would like to see him done by Seamas in the format above like his second go around on Rand and Perrin, BTW still waiting on that format for Mat...I know its coming bud. Anyway like i was saying I agree he should be done with nature all around.

Jaw dropping work. Needs more than a 10/10.

impressed as hell, yet again. galad is hard not to look at, and i've never thought him to be as hot as all the women say he is, hehe. gareth bryne is also fan-freaking-tastic. loving domon, semirhage, siuan, and just everyone, really! mat's my wallpaper, so that's how bloody much i love him! faile is lovely, and it's just how i picture her "frowning down at bethal, a falcon staring from her eyrie". these pics certainly make my day - you need to get paid for this!!!!

Unknown said...

*whew* that is truly amazing work my friend... its nice when someone with a TON of talent shares your passion .. it gives you an excuse to fall in love all over again. I saw on your page that you were looking for someone to "cast" as Demandred.. have you considered Christian Bale? And I read that you were going to do Selucia ... how about Bridgette Wilson? You are the very best...

I know your are probably getting bugged by many to see more WoT art, but since your your Jeremy Saliba said to bug you after he released a new variant WoT cover, I figured I'd give it a try.

At the very least it might satiate some of the people bugging by having them discover Jeremy's work.

I'm sure you hear this all of the time, but as a graphic designer I know you can never hear it too much. Your work is perhaps the best rendition of the the WoT characters I have ever seen. I'm not just taking about line quality, and layout, which are both spectacular, but also the way you have captured the emotions behind each of the character, I could go into long details on each one, but I wont I think you got the point, great stuff, thank you.

gcp said...

Unknown said...

uh, balthamel? is incredibly creepy. can't wait till we get to see him in his new body, hehe! i'm also loving fain on his peddler's wagon. somehow you've given the impression that there's more in that wagon than pots and pans and such... and that one would be better off not finding out what exactly IS in there. *shudder* these pics always make my day, thanks yet again man!

O, My sweet, sweet Lord.

While I can't say that I frequent your blog, I do strive to check it for your latest works every now and again (esp. the WoT characters, etc) and I was extremely excited when I discovered you had updated with Gareth Bryne, Be'lal, Belthamal and Galad since. You always capture the precise essence of the character in a way that makes me rethink the image I had already formed in my head or clarify the fuzzy details.

I hope you don't mind, but I printed out your character depictions and they are currently on my bedroom wall. They are serving both as reference while reading and as some genuinely (freaking) awesome artwork to brighten up my wall! :)

I often stare at them while laying around during the day (and night). I think, also, that it's worth noting that my all-time favourites are: Berelain; Graendal; and Logain. Parfait!

Also, I have to say that I'm a massive fan of your sporadic spread of half-naked chunky ladies throughout your blog.

Wizard!

Unknown said...

Just wanted to say thank you so much - I am just re-reading the WoT in preparation for the release of the first par of Memory of Light in November and I've just come across your art and it is brilliant! I especially adore you representation of Loial, I have never been quite able to visualise him but yours looks spot-on. Logain is very gorgeous but then that's how I've always seen him in my head...

If you're taking requests, I'd love to seen Davram Bashere or Verin Mathwin :)

So how about a new picture to go along with the new book? Something to get that Darrell "not-so" Sweet taste from my mouth. (see what I did there? With that name? 'Cause his name is 'Sweet'? Yeah... you get it)

I ADORE your work. These WOT pictures just bring them all to life so well. Lanfear, all the Forsaken, are probably my faves but I like them all a whole whole lot.

I hope you've read the new Gathering Storm! It's great. There's this scene with Egwene in the tower you totally need to illustrate. You'll know it when you read it. :)

Thank you for this beautiful artwork.

in a word.................AWESOME. hopefully you can get round to drawing Gawyn Trakand as he is one of three charactors i can really identify with, the others being Mat and Galad.
i'd also like to see your takes on Demandred and Olver as i suspect them to be Mazrim Taim and a young Gaidal Cain, respectively.

keep up the good work.

Wow your art brings life to the greatest fanatasy story ever and i love how you have drawn them so well thanks!

Tehol said...

I will be straight up with you: Best Perrin I have ever seen. He looks better than my imagination, and thus my imagination has adopted this look for him.

Mat is also stupendous, he matches my imagination; better in some ways, less so in others.

Your Rand is one of my favourites, though I have yet to see anyone who fully captures him.

The rest is good, though you have blown me away with your Perrin.

Devin V. said...

Okay brother the 6 month since the last post period ended on Christmas, WHERE ARE YOU BUDDY! Hope all is well with the baby and the family and the career but we miss the WoT Art....come back Seamas.

Devin V. said...

Oh yeah and Tehol if you read this again, go see Jeremy Saliba's Rands. He has two versions and both are my personal favorite Rands ever but I come to Seamas for all the rest of the characters.

Devin V. said...

Whoops I mispoke, the other Rand I love is indeed here on Seamas' page, his second rendition of him in the red coat is great. Really if i'm being honest they are both combined as the best WoT artists by far IMO.

Tehol said...

this rand?: http://bp1.blogger.com/_4Cwvvts0d_k/SGHe6WrJgSI/AAAAAAAAAfo/_sCAaMAypoE/s1600-h/rand_seamas.jpg ?

Yeah, that one is great, but I still feel like there is something a bit off (off of perfect). I really like this one, though his eyes could be more blue (i think Jeremy did it?):
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QalxyuibvXg/SAZI5ssFcQI/AAAAAAAAAks/Pmx086TYiro/s1600-h/jeremysaliba_rand.jpg

After looking through Jeremy's stuff, along with Seamas, i agree though. By far the best WoT artists I have seen.

Devin V. said...

No not that one that Saliba one, I meant the one with the arm singed off.

Tehol said...

oh, this one?:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QalxyuibvXg/SLe7R4kzvJI/AAAAAAAAAqc/BB091sDaT9E/s1600-h/re-learning+the+sword+03.jpg

I don't actually like that one too much. I think an enormous amount of artistic skill went into it, but if you look closely, you will notice that the wrong hand is missing.

Also, I picture Rand with less of a 'block' for a chin. I have very strong ideas about peoples' chins (as weird as that is), so to me this is a big deal (though I understand perfectly if other people don't mind).

I don't even know what to say- your work is stunning. Impresses the pineapples out of me. I am hard pressed to choose favourites, BUT...
Loial - I cannot stop grinning; I think you conceptualize Ogier perfectly!
Birgitte - Dayum. XD That is her FACE!
Siuan, Faile, and Nynaeve- your work highlights their respective characters, mindsets, and attitudes to perfection. Amazing x 10^genius.

I also love Thom, Asmodean, Mesaana, and SEMIRHAGE. (The woman gives me the creeps, but I wouldn't give them up.:P) Also, congrats on depicting Moiraine's Aes Sedai agelessness; that can't have been easy!!!

Here I am hoping you might be doing a few more characters... any chance of Gawyn or the High Lady Suroth? Ruarc might be fun too... Thanks for posting these. I treasure them already. I would buy posters faster than you can say "Look! Aiel!"
