threadless marvel superhero shirt submissions

the threadless website has had a call for marvel inspired entries for prints on t-shirts in the past few months; these are a few of the designs i've submitted...unfortunately, i don't think any of my designs have been picked... but there are some neat designs from other talented artists to check out if you're a fan of the marvel universe--

ULTRASYLVANIA

some very good friends of mine are working on the second installment of their graphic novel, which is currently up on kickstarter...'ultrasylvania' is set in an alternate 19th century where dracula and frankenstein's monster rule european kingdoms; the story follows their power struggle, moral choices, and bloodshed that ensues as a result...if you're a fan of classic monster movies, or just monsters in general, i highly recommend checking this out--http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/955965154/ultrasylvania-vol-2-emperor-frankenstein

also, if you're interested in starting from the beginning, you can pick up vol. 1 on amazon here

the new covers for issues 14 and 15 have been released on dyanmite entertainment's website, which features jeremy saliba's art (the 3 boys in shadar logoth) and my own--jeremy and i will continue to collaborate on more covers for the graphic novel adaptations of robert jordan's wheel of time series...it's like we're friends, or something....

wheel of time prints available

prints are now available for some of my wheel of time artwork from imagekind, which you can find here, in the wheel of time gallery--currently, i have a small handful of WoT characters and graphic novel covers available, but i will be adding to the selection regularly...all of the images that are available for prints must be approved by harriet mcdougal (robert jordan's wife), so in most cases i have gone back into the original piece and cleaned it up, and in some cases i've redone characters altogether--i also have a personal work gallery, which i hope to add more pieces to, as well--

stacking!

stacking, a new downloadable game by doublefine, was recently announced--you star as charlie blackmore, a russian matroyshka doll, able to stack into other dolls that populate his fictional 1930's era world in order to solve challenges and progress through the game--stacking is the brainchild of lee petty, my old art director at crystal dynamics...i had the fortunate opportunity to work with lee again and do some concept work for this game, which, in my humble opinion, looks pretty rad (yes, that is a shameless plug)--stacking will be available spring 2011--so you should check it out!

wheel of time prints (almost) available--

i'm excited to say that some of my wheel of time 'portraits', and also some cover art for the graphic novel, will soon be available in print form--there will be a small group of characters available to start, but i plan to add to that group every month or so--as soon as everything is in place, i will have more info here on my blog, as well as a link to where you may purchase the prints, if you choose--my good friend jeremy saliba will also be offering prints of some of his wheel of time art, as well, which you can check out on his blog--

mike resnick: the buntline special...

about 6 months ago i was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do a book cover for pyr for a mike resnick novel, the buntline special--it's a fictional steampunk western that focuses on doc holiday and the earp brothers--the weird west emporium explains the synopsis a little more eloquently than myself (and they mention the cover art, too!)--i was also able to do some black and white illustrations for the interior of the book, which were a lot of fun....i mean, how can you go wrong with a steampunk western....?

"...do you feel lucky, punk--?"

i think enough time has passed since i last posted anything...so, a while back i jumped on the re-design bandwagon, and thought it might be neat to have a go at the never ending story (only the first one, mind...all of the sequels were pretty much garbage)--anyway, i came across some really bad sketches the other day, and was inspired to try again--i always thought the weird human-like nose on the luck dragon was really creepy, so i thought it might be creepier still to infuse him with more human-like features...

this was actually an early idea i had for the dominance war 3 competition a while ago (smaller thumbnail)--i came across it a few weeks ago, and decided to work it up into something neat....but all i got was this instead....

just a quick mignola-inspired doodle....i actually sat down and used this wooden thing called a pen-cil and a white sheet called pa-per to do it....however, i couldn't just let it be after scanning it--i had to molest it with color in photoshop....

more wot variant covers...

well, i said i would update with more covers...and here they are...all of them thus far, up to issue 6--you can view them on dragonmount where they were originally posted by dabel brothers publishing, along with jeremy's covers, as well--you can also order them from the dragonmount online store (under graphic novels in the categories section all the way to the right), although i haven't been able to find an option to choose which cover you want...just a heads up if you're considering an order--i think ultimately the dabels are going to compile the first 6 issues together into one graphic novel, which will supposedly have bonus material in the back like sketches, notes, etc, for anyone who might be interested in that kind of thing...

holy moley--2 posts in (almost) 2 months--? that's like, a record or something--just a little sketch i found whilst flipping through my sketchbook the other day--i'm trying to get back into posting stuff more regularly, so we'll see how it goes...no, seriously...i am...

wheel of time variant cover...

so this month the new wheel of time comics are due for release--my buddy jeremy and i have been involved in doing variant covers for the series, which has been a lot of fun, although i'm still pretty new to the whole comic cover bit--anywho, here's a peek at what the variant cover for issue #2 will be--trollocs smashing into the al'thor farmhouse--i'll try to post more covers as the months progress...

the frog queen...

i usually don't say much about whatever i post, but these particular peices have a story, which i will now relay to you at the best of my ability--ok, so, one day i started with this sketch of a rather large woman, and decided to make her into some sort of amphibian queen of sorts--i was feeling smug, and asked my wife what she thought--to my dismay, her response went something like this: "...eh...she needs bigger boobs, or something...i don't like it" well, i reacted as any right-minded husband would in my position--i took her response as a personal slieght against me, and set forth to create something that would evoke the proper emotional response i desired from my spouse--whereupon i came up with the other image in an attempt to wholy disgust and revolt my wife to the core--now, i know what you're asking yourself: "...do those little frog men have penises?" you bet they do--"is that frog man suckling at the breast of the frog queen?" indeed he is--".......is that....is that one guy down on her foot.....gratifying himself?" he sure is--so, needless to say, mission accomplished...my wife took one look at this, and immediately let out some unintelligeable gasp of disgust, and walked out of the room--i was quite pleased.

tomb raider: underworld

so, while at crystal dynamics, i was fortunate enough to have a chance to work on tomb raider: underworld--if you haven't played this yet, i recommend it--the game looks pretty darn amazing...

i got to work on lots of different outfits for lara, which was fun...i also got to help with the box art, which was also pretty neat--here's some costumes i got to help with...

monsters 'n stuff...

here's some stuff that i worked on a while back at crystal dynamics...lots of monsters....and some other stuff, too....
