so...here's a couple of things i've been putting
off posting...i've got more in the works, and i was hoping
to accomplish more to sort of "kick off" this series...but i was
getting anxious...just more on trying to break the traditional dragon
design, and visually separate different breeds, etc...the plan is
to add to this section as i finish more designs....

Amazing works,you´re a very talented guy,congratulations
If I may take the time to kiss arse (in an excessively wordy fashion). May I start by saying your art is in every aspect spectacular. As a would-be sketcher, who spent 10 years working along side a graphic designer /pro artist with a serious flair for the fantastic, I must say your work is refreshing and gorgeous. While I found your site via your beautiful gallery of WOT art, your formative work on the dragons has really left me agape.
The unconventional approach and innovation in types of dragon is laudable. Each composition, even as design sketch, are wonderful and lead the eye to the form of creature and image. But your attention to the detail of your creations (as I assume they are) is what really 'speaks to me' if I may sound cliché.
Allow me to commiserate and make this post about me; I have long obsessed over dragons (a corollary of dino-fanaticism) and when I started to sketch, they were one of my favorite subjects. As a 'series' of sorts I tried to make vaguely anthropomorphic dragon caricatures for each of my friends. Though they started pretty archetypal, goaded by my aforementioned friend I kept racking my brain for new ideas for new friends and started stretching the limits of what was a dragon. Big black onyx carved-dragon, and small thorny shark-dragon, along side wasp/scorpion-dragon, and crystalline wyvern. Six legged met 5 winged, met glider, met tunneler. Heck, there was even a goat-based dragon once...which perhaps was indicative of how hard it was for me to keep coming up with novel types. The hardest hurdle to get past was the limits of what I felt were 'viable' creatures; ones that could physically exist and fly and prey upon the weak!
THIS is why your work so astounds me. You create such beautiful definitions-challenging creatures, yet the whole while you have put the thought into the way they live, and function; this makes them seem real. You are doing what I only wish I had the talent to do, and for that I must tip my hat. Your monsters are beautiful and really have a life of their own. I look forward for those creatures which are still being birthed and will be shared soon. Keep up da work, yo.
I love your work!
you are very talented!
congratulations!!
Came for the WOT, keep comming back for your original stuff. I really hope you get some time to do some more on the "Ice World" and these dragons...
Huge fan of this set. Solid, interesting, and designed very well. Really nice stuff man. I diggs!
awesome!!! i'm a fan!!!
I keep coming back and looking at this over and over.
I'm a big fan of dragons as well and if you turned this into a graphic novel I'd definitely buy it off the shelf!
By the way, what do you think of the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik? Ever thought of designing for her?
re: kueh
i have read the temeraire series by naomi novik, and thought about doing some designs based off some of her dragon descriptions/breeds--i've been meaning to go back and re read the series for some inspiration!
