wheel of time prints available

more wheel of time characters...just my own personal take on some of the great characters from robert jordan's awesome series---

prints are now available for some of my wheel of time artwork from imagekind, which you can find here, in the wheel of time gallery--currently, i have a small handful of WoT characters and graphic novel covers available, but i will be adding to the selection regularly...all of the images that are available for prints must be approved by harriet mcdougal (robert jordan's wife), so in most cases i have gone back into the original piece and cleaned it up, and in some cases i've redone characters altogether--i also have a personal work gallery, which i hope to add more pieces to, as well--

  2. Hey, I'm a WoT fan and I really like your drawings of the characters. Do you plan to draw Suanche, Cadsuane or anyone else ?
Also, how do you proceed ? By computer or do you scan your paintings ? I'm not really skillet in computers, that's why I ask.
    Anyway, congratulations !
    Guillaume.

thanks for your comments--! yes, i plan on eventually getting to cadsuane and suian sanche--and hopefully a lot more characters in the near future--for this particular series, i've worked solely on the computer--using a wacom tablet, i sketch in a line drawing first, then paint it...this is all done in adobe photoshop...that's about it :)

thanks again for checking these out and commenting--!

  5. Elayne and Egwene are lacking the fire that they should have as Queen/Amyrlin Seat. Like the fire you put into Nynaeve and Ahvienda is great. Elayne should have golden hair. Pics are great though...I especially love Fain, Min, Moiraine and Perrin. Wicked awesome. Can't wait to see more.

  6. Yeah, gotta throw in Tuon and Faile. More of the Forsaken would be welcome. I'd also like to see Vanin, because every single description given of him amuses me, and I'd like to see your take as well.

Minor gripes: Aviendha's hair is cut pretty short, with a small tail at the nape of her neck, though it's grown out a little by the end of book 11. Lan has white hair along his temples. And Mat and Rand, I'm pretty sure, don't sport facial hair, though I think if I were drawing them, I'd give them a little fuzz as well.

Overall, I love these drawings. I've got Loial sitting on my desktop right now, and this style of art really brings the characters to life for me, far better than the horrible book covers do. Min looks absolutely perfect. Keep it up, please!

  7. Very very good! I am super impressed. You really should consider submitting some of your work to Wizards of the Coast for MTG or other CCG uses.

You really captured the WOT characters for me. I love the women although I didn't picture Nynaeve and Egwene to have such dark hair. I always thought it more brown and less black. But I could be wrong. I am just finishing up the WOT series right now I may have to go back and read their descriptions again.

Awsome work though. Keep it up I really would like to see some generic people with different styles of clothing. They always talk about this style of dress or that style of beard. You might want to consider it.

As for characters I really would like to see Bergita Sliverbow and maybe Tuan or another Seanchen. Maybe a suldam and domoni. Also maybe Egwene as Amerline or maybe Illida. Just keep it up. I can see them someday turning this into a movie series and they will need good concept art. :) Thanks againf or the good work.

  8. It'd be great to see a shot of all three ta'veren in one painting... and it would be even better if you could make it wallpaper size ;)

Brigitte and Siuan are the most prominent characters that come to mind that you haven't done. Incredible stuff... hope to see it on the calendar someday.

  9. Aviendha is a bit misspelled, but that's just a minor issue. Otherwise, your wot pics are absolutely marvelous. Easily some of the best wot-art I've ever seen, maybe the best. I can't choose any particuar favorite, but I especially like Perrin, Egwene, Bayle... well, actually all of them.

Since you draw so wonderful ladies, the stunners Lanfear and Berelain would be nice. Someone suggested Vanin and that would also be great.

But thank you and keep up the good work.

  10. Heeeey Brother...So this guy that I work was pretty impressed by your work--making me pretty much the coolest person...EVER! Welp, just want to let you know that I am very proud of you and I love you!

  11. This is amazing!! You have captured these characters well. This is the best WOT art I have ever seen.

  12. Wow; really, really impressed. Everyone envisions the characters slightly differently, and it's great when you're talented enough to transcribe your mental picture to canvas - digital or otherwise. Keep up the good work, and I'm lookin' forward to seeing what you have in store for many of the other characters!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Your artwork is amazing. Your conceptualization of the characters is great and I think you have unequivocally captured the spirit of the WoT series.

    Keep 'em coming!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thanx for the great job, you are incredable.I think that the Forsaken will be great, yeat and most of all Graendal....

    ReplyDelete
  15. Of all the drawing of the characters I've seen, you've made the best in my opinion. Of course, there are the inaccuracies with hair color and such, but the overall feel to them are just perfect!

    You've officially got another fan!

    ReplyDelete
  16. you're work is just amazing. i can't wait to see the others that you do. i am sure i speak for everyone when i say i hope we get to see all the characters. Elyas, Logain, Ba'alzamon(as described in the first dreams)and Howal Gode would be some i would really like to see.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You are amazing! Some of the best WOT art I've ever seen. Tell me you'll be selling prints of these some day? Cards of each character would be awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I completely agree, please tell us you will either be selling prints or possibly letting us know where we could get slightly larger versions to frame (for personal use only of course, I'd LOVE to hang the entire set in my office!!!!)

Best WOT character set I've seen yet. NO doubts! Can't WAIT to see more!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well done my man, well done. All are fantastic, but especially Thom - outstanding. I agree with most of the other posters on additional characters (I'd like to see some of the Forsaken, and some of the Aes Sedai from the Age of Legends personally, but anyone you sketch next will be great I'm sure). Also, you should seriously consider making some prints and selling them, as I am quite certain you'd make a ton of fans very happy if you did so.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think that your art is stunning. I have never seen anything so beautiful or accurate before in relation to the WOT characters. Please continue to do more-I can't wait. I am curious as to whether you impression of Egwene is of her where the books are now or before, but I love your impressions of Rand, Mat and Perrin and am so curious to see more. I would love to know what RJ thinks of your work. You are so tallented.

    ReplyDelete
  21. RE: Evangeline

thank you for your most gracious comments! :) in terms of egwene, i wanted to portray her at a point relatively early on in the series--around the time she acquires the dream angreal...yeah, almost all of the characters are portrayed at different times in the series--i guess i just went with whatever i thought might be the most fun to draw--:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think these pictures are great. I do picture some of the characters slightly different, but all around, I am still very inpressed. I anticipate seeing some of the forsaken, particularly Lanfear, and Suian Sanche, and Leane. Your picture of Loial is absolutely top notch. Great Job

    ReplyDelete
  23. Overall very well done, buddy. You had an interesting interpretation for some of the characters that i never really considered (Tuon for example). I want to say that Elayne's hair should be more golden/red and not predominantly red, but I could be wrong. I love your Loial and Faile. Something is lacking in Land and Nyneave seems tall in your version. I like your Perrin's hair better than Jeremy's but still not as curly or unruly as I'd like. Good job though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You showed us what the Dragon Reborn looks like, a.k.a. Rand al'Thor. But I want to see the Dragon, a.k.a. Lews Therin Telamon.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I really enjoy your work. They really bring the characters to life in a lot of ways. I especially like Faile, Shaidar haran, and the Seanchan gardener. Out of all the characters, (to me) I think you really captured Faile. If you're not completely tired of character requests, I would absolutely love to see your rendition of Elyas. Thanks!

    -Alex

    ReplyDelete
  26. One more thing... You did an AWESOME job on the landscape drawings, I'm wondering if you would have any interest in drawing something like Tar Valon or Dumai's Wells?

    ReplyDelete
  27. without a doubt the best pics i've ever seen of the wot characters! i can't stop looking at them. My favorites are moiraine and birgitte. show me the siuan!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I did like your Elayne design to begin with... I'm glad you changed it if only to silence the overwhelming criticism :)

Glad to see you're back at it... I was afraid you were done with it after almost 3 weeks of no updates.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Duude! Friggin awesome!

Some of the Forsaken would be awesome, or should I say 'Chosen' *wiggles eyebrows* :P

Dunno why no one mentions the little tyke-> but Olver! Goofy, pitiable, lovable but sadly never-going-to-be-handsome messenger boy of Mat's

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with all previous posters in saying... BEST....WOT ART.....EVER!

I really love all of them. Your work is top-notch.

I second (possibly third?) the Elyas suggestion. I think it'd also be great to see a character from each of the Nations (probably a big project, but it'd be great to see the diverstity). I love that you included Bayle Domon! Lord Dobraine for Carhienen (partially shaved head of a soldier), High Lord Meilan/Torean (Tairen beard and puffy sleeved coat), Tylin (Altaran marriage knife), Rhuarc (the cadin'sor), a Seafolk Windfinder.

Sorry for the long post! Great work!

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've just ended up here by chance and even though I have little to add to the above posts, I feel I just have to agree. Definitely the best WoT character art I've ever seen, and not by a small margin. Some of the 6-year-old style sketches that people have actually had the cheek to publish as WoT art are just a pain in certain body parts.
One thing that others seem not to have pointed out and I absolutely love is your attention to detail in clothing and articles. Way to go.
That said, it's perhaps better to call your pics WoT-inspired art. I would also love to see some items that are as faithful to descriptions in the books as possible. That of course takes some grueling "research" and what's more important, involves sacrificing some of your personal inspirations, but it is possible to be faithful without being slavish.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love, love, love it! Deffinitely the most captivating WoT art I've ever seen. Awesome. My favourite character has to be Verin. She's so sneaky I'd love to see how you'd portray her.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Olver would definately be a great choice... especially since he's really Gaidal Cain :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Your Faile is the best I've seen. Captures perfectly her proud sensuality. I also particularly like your Birgitte, Lan, Loial & Perrin.

    ReplyDelete
  35. These are so spectacular! I love the Birgitte and Faile ones. So spot on perfect. I also love your attention to detail in the costuming and clothing. Moiraine's dress is just what Moiraine would wear, and the sleek grey and white Faile is wearing seems like the neat, yet elegant dresses she is always described as wearing.

I also like the continuity in the Morgase/Elayne illustrations, and like your amplified Elizabethan thing you have going with Morgase, but she's a little more stylized/cartoony-pastichey than the the realistic ones like Birgitte or Min

I also really, really dig that you portrayed Egwene's twisted-stone dream T'A'R ring.

For myself, I would love to see Cadsuane, Lanfear, Berelain, Galad, and Gawyn. Elaida and/or Suian wearing the stole would also be great. I would love to see your take on that.

(oh, one more request - High Lady Suroth)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I LOVE this stuff!

Full of win! I can't wait to see more.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I absolutly love the pictures. Some of the best translations from what I see in my head when I picture them. The Siuane one is teriffic. I love the colors and the expressions in all the pictures. I love that you started with all the main characters and then to the ones close to the main characters. The one character I would love to see your interpretation of is Amys, since I have a hard time picturing her based on her description. But, bravo!

  38. Hi...
i'm a bit Wheel of Time fan, and to be honest, i haven't seen very much reader/fan art that has done the saga any justice at all.

your art, however, is both inspiring and inspired, and truly impressive. out of everyone i've seen your work does the saga the most justice. if there's any graphic art that jordan comissions for the saga, i hope he finds you and has you do it.

incidentally, if i may ask....was claudia black the inspiration for your piece depicting faile? the profile is remarkably similar.

thanks for your great art :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don´t speak English, but your work is really good in spanish:
Tus dibujos son cojonudos, la rueda del tiempo escrita por robert jordan son tus dibujos al verlos veo a los personajes de la rueda. gracias y continua

    ReplyDelete
  40. Once again, amazing work on Siuan! Can't wait to see more!

    ReplyDelete
  41. awesome sketches!! Who's gonna be your new project and when will we see him or her??

    ReplyDelete
  42. Best WoT art I have seen, very enjoyable, and kudos to you

    ReplyDelete
  43. Stunning.

Utterly brilliant, please keep it up, and as previously stated, if you sell prints of these (as large as Poster size), I'm sure there'll be a market for them!

Sorilea would be another great character to see visualized by your jaw-dropping talent.

On behalf of all WoT fans everywhere, thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow!! What a beautiful work! I am astonished!! The characters you draw are exactly those I have imagined whit reading the WoT!
Keep on creating such beautiful pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  45. As you may already know...Robert Jordan has passed away. I believe you have the best vision of these WoT characters. I hope you will continue to draw the characters until you've drawn every one. They are all memorable and i believe it would honor him to see such great work. I hope that you may also try to show these drawings to his family because they truly are better than any i've seen....im a big fan of Perrin and the way you drew him was just as i saw him. I do have some requests/suggestions for your next drawings. One with all three Ta'varen with their animal comparisons. (Perrin-Wolf, Mat-Fox, Rand-Dragon) and definitely Gawyn, Galad, Elyas, Logain and since your female drawings are so good could you tackle Tylin, Selucia, Graendal, and Berelain.

    ReplyDelete
  46. thanks for all of your comments--!

    RE: christopher
i really didn't intend faile to look that much like claudia black--but i don't mind that she does bear a striking resemblance to her--:)

    RE: martijn
well...i think i'm going to start in on all of the forsaken--i'd like to do them all one after the other--but i do want to get around to all of the great suggestions...there have been a few mentioned i hadn't even thought of that would be a lot of fun...

thanks again for all of your comments--!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dude!

That's a great Sammael - finally someone who knows what a 'square-cut beard' would look like, plus the scar is great!

Please, please please throw us a Lanfear and Graendal...

    you, sir, are my hero.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I forgot to request on character. I would love to see your version of Aran'gar. I know you just said ur gona tackle the foresaken.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It would be great if you'd make another myyrdal in this trading card style... I like to make wallpapers of your artwork and these are much easier to make such adjustments with.

    ReplyDelete
  50. RE: john

at some point i think i will...give a go at what a "run of the mill" fade would look like...i was toying with the idea of doing a 'creature' section--trollocs, fades, draghkar, the seanchan beasts...even the eelfin and the aelfinn...?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Best pics I've seen, man. Do you mind if I post 'em on my wheel of time facebook group? I kind of did already but I'll take 'em down if you would rather.

    ReplyDelete
  52. re: matthew

thanks for your kind words! i'm flattered that you would want to use these images on your website--however--for the sake of getting caught up in legalities, i'd rather they not be used--these images are nothing more than my own interpretations, and, (not to sound cliche), a chance to showcase my artistic flare, if you will--i just wouldn't want any of my personal artistic meanderings to be seen as "misrepresenting" robert jordan in a different environment other than my own...thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. SEAMAS, DUDE, MAN....listen you have gotten plenty of much deserved kudos, but I would strongly suggest that you contact the owner of the rights to the WOT series, display your artwork to them, and try to sell them on letting you produce an animated version of the WOT series...I know this is a tremendous amount of work, but your art is truly inspirational and really the only worthy effort of this type that is out there. I really hope that you don't just giggle at this post and say yeah right, but give it deep and serious thought. Best of luck with everything!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Every time I look at your art I think "God damn..." Keep up those bad assed pitcures bro.
Also, I see Rand and Taim but where is Logain? He'd be awsome to see along with anything else you put out.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey, I was wondering, in honour of the great storyteller, after his passing, could you do a Robert Jordan portrait?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. These are so amazing! I'm slowly working through the books now, but even seven books in I could never picture Min, but when I saw yours it finally clicked! These are truly stunning images.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The pictures are awesome, but I just noticed the Flame of Tar Valon on the right arm of Siuan's shawl is backward.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I really like your style. I was satisfied with all of the sketches except for elayne and morgase, but hey, it's all good.

Also, I was a little surprised no one has mentioned them(at least I don't think they have) but what about the whitecloaks? Byar would make a good one I think. And like you mentioned, the Eelfinn and Aelfinn would be cool too.

Oh and what about scenes from the books? Some that come to mind are the taking of the Stone, the first attack on Edmond's Field, and when Rand fights Ba'alzamon in the sky above Falme.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Nice Asmodean....I been waiting for this next one...It's cool, i was hoping for one of the female forsaken..maybe next time...thanks for making more great Art man.

    ReplyDelete
  60. WOW! You are the man! Are you selling posters?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yet another job well done. Still the best WoT art I've seen period.

    ReplyDelete
  62. wow.. love your art for WOT!!!
I really like how you depicted Thom Merrilin. How about drawing Selene?
    =)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I just have to say this is by far the best WOT art I'v seen. You do not get enough credit for how great your Mat is; every artist has there vison of things; and yours is fantastic! Keep it up please.

    ReplyDelete
  64. WOW...just...WOW...

I'm blown away by every one of the pieces. I'm almost speechless.

I heartily await for the time you draw Verin and Simrhage.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This exceeds the quality and creativity of ANY art I've seen to date on the WOT series.

You should consider some other characters like Mat's captains - the leaders Band of the Red Hand; some of the Ash'aman; Galad Damodred; Dobraine ( I have trouble visualizing the stripes denoting status that RJ always talked about); and Juilin Sandar

    ReplyDelete
  66. have you ever thought about trying to pitch the idea of a graphic novel series of Wheel of Time. You have some of the best character designs that i have seen for the series and I think It could be a way for you to get paid to do your art. I know I would buy the books and it would introduce the masses of semi literate youths to Jordan's legacy.

    ReplyDelete
  67. By far, the best WOT art i've seen. this far outstrips the White Book stuff. For the first time, concept art that isn't hokey.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Truly the best I've ever see. Looking forward to Berelain and the Forsaken. Kudos!

    ReplyDelete
  69. As you are used to hearing by now this is the best WOT art that has ever been created. It easily surpasses the character renditions in the New Spring comic. I would buy every book in graphic novel form instantly if you were the artist.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm not sure Moghedien really has that old world look of the rest of the series... more of a Wednesday Addams to me. Probably the only one I'm not 100% in love with. I do like the web, though.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I too am fascinated by your interpretation of the WOT characters. Naturally, there are some that I like more than others, but I think generally the men show more "character", but that's mostly just nitpicking.

As far as I remember, Moghedien has basically two modes: Dominate or hide in the dark. I don't know which one you were going for, but I personally had hoped for more slyness or more radiating power. Again though, the quality is very high. Please keep them coming!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm a huge WOT fan and have read all the books 3 times through. That having been said, some of your portrayals have been so accurate with what I thought they should be that I'm completely flummoxed (Asmodean, Gaidal Cain, Birgitte, Uno, Bayle Domon, Tuon, Moiraine, Perrin, Mat, Nyneave and Min). Some credit probably goes to RJ for getting his ideas through so consistently, but your artwork has made me a huge fan :). Some of the others are a revelation. Your version of Rand has taken over what was there in my imagination. Same goes for Egwene, Siuan, Aviendha, Sammael, Faile , Loial and Moghedien. I'd never gotten to the younger version of Siuan Sanche, and had continued to be stuck in the older ageless version of her. Your drawing helped me make that phase shift.

Lovely work. Thanks a lot for putting these up :).

Requests: Galad, Lanfear, Moridin, Verin, Cadsuane.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You continue to inspire and amaze. That Moghedien is very clever!

  74. thank you all very much for your comments...! i really appreciate all of the great feedback--!

    ReplyDelete
  75. those pictures are really cool! loved moghedien! could you make lanfear or galad next? I really want to see the 'most beautiful' from you!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hey there, I really think you do a great job on these! Do you think we'll ever get to see your "Tam" or "Abell" or any other two rivers folk?

    ReplyDelete
  77. thank you very much for your comments :)

    re: sean

yes, i think i'd like to eventually get to some of the other two rivers folk--tam, abel, master luhan, perhaps even a version of padan fain before the dagger...?

    re: shaq

i'm working up to lanfear...:) i'll probably get to several other "chosen" before i get brave enough...but galad is definitely on the list at some point...

    ReplyDelete
  78. hey why dont you take up the task of wheel of time comics from 'tor'

    ReplyDelete
  79. the task of making wheel of time graphic novel/comics was taken up by Red Eagle Entertainment...the didn't even finish with the new spring and things have gone into standstill. Presently the copyright is with Debel Brothers.
But TOR says it is open.

The 12th book's gonna take a while. So people are gonna look for other options in the meantime.

I know some really good animators here in india but they cant make head or tail of WOT.

please mail ur response as per....

  80. Heres a short wish list, if you dont already have them down. Elyas, Aram, Alivia, Balwer, Sevanna, Master Norry (odd i know but he would be comical).... i'll stop the list could go on forever.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The Lan update is very nice. Captured the "I don't fear anything" look nicely, and added the grey to his hair as well. Very nice indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hey i know you updated Lan, but you said "some" so which others have you updated? Well once again i've got a list but i've shortened it...Tylin, Selucia, Graendal, Berelain, and Lanfear. Yes all the rest of the well known HOT LADIES of WOT. I know you can create these ladies from what i've seen with your other women.

    ReplyDelete
  83. By the way, i would definetly buy WoT Comics if you did the illustration. I don't know if you're into that but if so you should definetly check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  84. My god! I love it. Captures eactly the way I saw many of these characters. I would like to see a close up the Dragons on rands forearms with a side on profile of his face. A very noir picture of his concentration, yet the battle he is having inside himself you can see on his face. Holding the Heron mark blade too! ha! being a bit too detailed here. Just imagining. Thanks for the artwork. Brilliant. You should consider selling it.

    ReplyDelete
  85. awesome! Doesnt aviendha have short hair though? I might have to look that one up. Awesome stuff though!

    ReplyDelete
  86. really good....hope i see a graphic novel about the wheel of time soon from you!.....really like thom. hes really spot on...!
cheeze maite for a job no one could have done better

    ReplyDelete
  87. All of these are just breathtaking! You're drawing if Loial is exactly was I was trying to picture in my head, but I had not succeeded until I saw your work (if that makes any sense). I was also having trouble picturing Faile as being beautiful while being described as having a bold nose and high cheekbones, but your picture captures this so well! I could go on and on! Thanks for your drawings! I hope you don't mind if I proceed to mentally insert these pictures into the story as I read the series. :) And I hope you decide to keep adding more!

    ReplyDelete
  88. seamas-mom got me on your site and I really enjoy your work. Am always amazed at how you come up with the colors and designs. So proud of you, Dad

    ReplyDelete
  89. Didn't know ohmygod was my post name!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I absolutely love your illustrations! I actually am taking art (well, animation) in college, and I hope I could be at least half as good as you! You are absolutely gifted!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I love the new look of Rand's dragons... before they looked like tattoos, but now they look like they might actually shine in sunlight.

I thought I'd share this little story about your work with you: I've taken a handful of my favorite characters that you've done and duped the background a bit to make the images into wallpapers for my computer and I removed the names just to clean them up a bit. My brother-in-law (who got me into the books) saw the picture of Fain on the desktop and immediately said, "Hey, that's Padan Fain!" Just thought you'd like to know that they're so spectacularly drawn that they're recognizable without any labels or pretext.

    ReplyDelete
  92. your work is amazing..truly im speechless...I came across them on a group on Facebook and today I thought of checking out the blog on the pics...Wow...
Some of the drawings resemble what I had pictured the characters as...but some not...ofcourse imagination and perception varies..but you are one talented artist.
Keep it up and best of luck in the future.
    May the light illumine you:)

  93. I think you should add some Aiel to the list of characters your doing. I'd really like to see your take on them. Any of them as a matter of fact.

  94. Wow! Aginor is so scary, really awesome work!

    ReplyDelete
  95. And the forsaken greatness continues! Great looking Aginor! I can't wait to see the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  96. SOOOO creep-tastic. It's great. In a creepy way. Creepy....

    ReplyDelete
  97. I about crapped my pants when I saw Aginor. Great work.

    ReplyDelete
  98. 'lovely' Aginor :)... I have you in my bookmarks, keep checking from time to time :D. Thanks a ton.

    ReplyDelete
  99. First off I have to say I absolutely love your work and the characters you capture. Even though they dont always look like ive imagined them, there is no doubt who they are supposed to be.
I realy like your version of the young Rand, looking unexperienced but determined about doing what must be done. Could you please make a version of Rand later on in the books, that is: more "The Dragon Reborn"? that would be awesome! keep up the good work whatever you draw. peace

    ReplyDelete
  100. oh yeah talin talking about aiels: could you make sorilea? with that kick-ass looks? that'd be awesome :D
    or maybe some ashaman?

that's the largest facebook group dedicated to the wheel of time. it has a lot of news to do with the books and affiliations and things like that. there's a contest going on to send artwork somewhere that the winning ones get put into a calendar to benefit the fight against the disease that RJ died from. i bet some of your stuff would win; it's the best WOT art i've ever seen by far.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Personally I think your WoT work is fantastic.

I would love to see Leane, Logain, Berelain, Lews Therin Telamon, Ilyena Moerelle Dalisar, Sevanna, Gaul, Bain, Chiad, Valan Luca, Juilin Sandar, Davram Bashere, Rhuarc, Renaile din Calon Blue Star, Aram, a Grolm, Alanna, Verin, and Pedron Niall.

    Phew.

  104. Dude, I nearly shat my pants when i saw that ishy! he's brilliant!! *continues to stare*

    ReplyDelete
  105. Awesome take on Ish. After the forsaken, I'd love to see your interpretation of Leane, to accompany Suian.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I completely echo Kyra's comment. Ishamael so neat. Another one of those that I hadn't imagined this way, but fits so well that I forget what I'd originally imagined :).

    ReplyDelete
  107. Your drawings are bloody brilliant! I've been a WOT fan for a long time and your drawing have really helped me to visualise the characters far better. It sounds really stupid but I've never liked the painted covers on the actual books...so much so that i've convinced myself never to look at them properly! [weird i know but i didn't want those images imprinted in my brain]. That's all changed now with your drawings so when I re-read the books again I'll use your drawings to picture what's going on! Thanks and keep up the good work.

Finally you must have a long list I'm sure, but it would be really cool to see your take on a Fade?

  108. thanks again for all of your comments-!

    re: john
thanks! i'm glad that some of these characters can be recognized just from a glance--!

    re: rizzo
a more current version of rand? sounds like a good idea...:)

    re: monty
yes, i did enter a piece in the calendar contest...although, in light of recent events...i'm not sure if that's going to move forward or not--anyone know?

    re: nadinfinity
thank you-! further down the page, i have my take on shaidar haran--i know, he's the uber-fade...but eventually, i'll get around to doing your run-of-the-mill fade...:)

again, thank you very much for continuing to stop by and check out my work--i appreciate all of the most excellent feedback--my list of characters to flesh out continues to grow--!

  109. Wow! That Semirhage blew me away! I find myself eagerly checking your blog every other day or so just to see what's new! Of course, all of your other work is amazing as well. I'm in a WoT phase at the moment (rereading the series), and your drawings have been augmenting the experience really well.
    Once again, great work!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Amazing Semirhage! I am in the same camp as Talin as I check your blog evey day for another update.

    Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Love the work. I didn't want to add to the list of characters I'd like to see because frankly I'd like to see them all. I kind of like seeing some of the more supporting characters depicted especially Uno; very cool.

I am going to a name to the list though. I don't know if you have thought about it, but I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I would be very curious to see you rendition of Slayer/Lord Luc. Possibly a double portrait? Or maybe Bela. She rocks.

But as said I just love them all.

    ReplyDelete
  112. whats up its devin again....i have aleady given my list of character requests further up the comments list so no need for that anymore...i love the semirhage and ishamael they are great. I gotta reread to see semirhage in my mind and compare. I know she's black but i dont remember the armor or anything but i still think it will be right on i just gotta get a refresher. Like alot of these other commentors i check your page every single day even tho i got ur releases down to every 7 to 15 days i just cant help but check. Keep it up man its all great work.

  113. Would you have any problem with me using images as an avatar?

    ReplyDelete
  114. somehow they seem to get even MOAR awesoem with time. perhaps the anticipation builds us up! I'd love to see your graendal!

Would you mind if i used these images for a signature on a forum? with credit, naturally

    ReplyDelete
  115. Simply amazing! I'm on my second reading of the series and it's crazy to find someone who is presenting the descriptions of the characters perfectly! Keep it up...and Lews Therin, Arthur Hawking, Rahvin would all be nice...keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Is it possible that you make an all wheel of time blog so that I can link to it from my Wheel of time page without stealing your intelectual property.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Graendal is perfect man...thick not skinny and completely a mix between a cougar and vixen she's a couvix. Great job. She is my favorite female character u've done and perrin of course is my favorite guy as i've said before....im also lookin forward to ur freakshow work for the potluck. Keep it up man.

    ReplyDelete
  118. WOW...

Exactly the way I pictured Graendal.

Can't wait for Verin, Rhavin, and Be'Lal.

  119. *drools* that graendal will be in my dreams for a very long time. tahnk you, kind sir.

  120. Very impressed with your work. I've been searching the web for some good character art for a new rp forum.
Your work not only fits the bill, but it really inspired the design of the forum. Could I have permission to use these. The site is not open yet, though your permission is one of the last things needed. You can see a temperary version of the banner I'd like to use your artwork in at
    http://wotrp.bookofrealms.com

The final version would be an animated gif with all of your images in the series rotating in and out of the banner..plus any new ones you make.
I will of course give all credit for the images to you.
The images would also be used as avatars for the main characters accounts.

    ReplyDelete
  121. As for your work so far.. have to say Min is my favorite, it would be neat to see her all dressed up like she was when in the Tower too.

Characters I would like to see:
    An Aelfinn or Eelfinn
One of the Children maybe Child Briar
    Olver
    Elyas and hopper
    Raen- tinker
    Renaile or another windfinder
    Aludra- illiminator
also your take on amyrlin garb/ novice/ seachan.. i other words just keep drawing they are all amazing, people looking over my site in progress are all asking about where I found the amazing art.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Wow, you draw some nipples and you really get a different sort of comment, eh :)

While I credit you with an impressive interpretation of the character I am saddened that it wouldn't be appropriate for me to point my students who read the series toward your site anymore... teachers have lost their jobs for less and all that :( Keep keepin up the great work.

    ReplyDelete
  123. re: joel

thanks for your interest in my work!--however, in the event of possibly misrepresenting robert jordan's work, and association with my own personal identity, i'd rather not have them used as other people's avatars--i am very grateful and appreciative for your asking, though--thank you!

    re: kyra r.

thank you, i am flattered that you would want to use my artwork, but, as i mentioned above, i feel that association with my own personal identity and the risk of misrepresenting R.J's work makes me hesitant--that being said, i would greatly appreciate it if they were not used as such :) but again, thank you very much for asking--!

    re: nicodemis

thank you for your kind words--! i checked out your site, and it looks pretty neat--the map looks like it would be somewhat interactive--? i appreciate your interest in my art, and am flattered that you would want to incorporate it into your website, unfortunately, for the sake of possibly getting caught up in legalities, i'd rather not my images be used...i just wouldn't want my own personal artistic meanderings to be seen as misrepresenting robert jordan in a different environment other than my own...as a side note, creating promotional art and images is my livelihood, and something i get paid to do--not to mention i put a lot of my time into creating :)--so, i would be most appreciative if my art was not used as a promotional tool--but again, i am flattered by your interest and kind words, and much obliged that you asked :)

i don't mean to come off sounding like the bad guy--to be honest, i never thought that the art would be so well received, as it were--i truly do appreciate all of your comments and interest in my site, and hope that you will continue to visit :)

    thanks again!

  124. I understand Seamas. Our site is a small WOT community, basically we've been together a couple years, but we're closing our last site and I decided to host and start another. We're a free roleplay forum and I ask you to reconsider. Your images give a face to characters we have long imagined. I might be able to pay something for the use of your thumbnails (you can see I've even shrunk them down a bit)and I already had a board giving credit of the images to you with a link to your site. I'd never use any of your full scale work. Seeing how I saw your images on another wot site I was a little surprised by your reply, but of course will do as you wish. Please consider a limited rights license to our little forum, even if just for the banner and not as avatars.

    ReplyDelete
  125. One other thought. You've seen the banner, nine thumbnails of your work with a dark red, firey background. Originally I had planned to make it animated to show off the other wonderful drawings of yours.. all except the trollocs (being horizontal) and Ishamael (being different background) I intended to make the middle 3 images turn into a image saying 'Wheel of Time' and then below saying 'ROLEPLAY'. Could I commission you to create it? Just trying to work with you.

Oh, and yes the map will hopefully become and image map linked to the corresponding categories/boards in the forum, still a work in progress:)Your more then welcome to RP with us once we get things going, we started off as just a board for members of a wot based game www.gostones.net , then we just grew into an rp forum. We're also in process of making another wot game called snakes and foxes.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I thought I would give you a heads up Nicodemis as I am a writer and I have had copyright issues with others making unauthorized images from my works. You see Seamas is trying to protect himself from legal action and repercussions. These are personal sketches and they are not intended to be used on the web for any other purpose than to share his art with others.

Should these images be used in a way that might “officially” be seen as to represent the characters in the Robert Jordan books then there could be legal precedence and he could get into trouble. This would mean he would not be able to share this art with others as he would be in violation of copyright laws. By law, he could be forced to keep these images private and would not be allowed to display them on the web without consent from the Jordan estate and monetary compensation to the publisher and/or said estate.

You see he has already stated his regret and has asked if the images not be used in a promotional fashion. If anyone used any of these images in an online game, on a forums, or in any capacity that could use these images to represent any of the WoT characters he could get in legal trouble. It does not matter that you might want to pay him for using these images. He does not hold the rights to make these images and do anything with them. Legally, right now, he can be asked to take down these images by any one from the Jordan estate or Tor publishing. If asked he would have to comply or face legal consequences. So using them other than to share them with fans is a problem.

Please do not ask him to reconsider an issue that he has no control over as we can see that it makes Seamas feel bad enough. I am not trying to be rude or come across as anything mean. But nicodemis, I am hoping that you can understand how bad that situation could turn out for him, and in turn, the loss it would be for us, the fans of his art, if something were to happen because of misuse of his personal art.

    ReplyDelete
  127. thankyou for explaining, i didn't really know that. Basically then, the way I want to use them would be ok, as I want to take the names off of them and have them on a banner (I had been in process of doing that when I first wrote here), scratch the idea of using them as avatars and then they are random character drawing on a WOT forum, which will have many non book characters. Simularities are just that. If I am correct, wouldn't that then be legal?

    ReplyDelete
  128. I understand, Seamas! I'll just leave it sitting on my harddrive then, it's so purdy!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Please don't mis-understand me, I'm just trying to figure this stuff out. I love Seamas's work and respect the artist. Heck, I'd go to any length to make the legal aspect a non-issue. As you see I came and asked permission instead of just using it, as so many do these days.
Then it seems I mis-understood his hesitation.
Since I'm making a site I wanted to do it right and need to understand all the finer points. Being a huge WOT fan, involved with numerous Wot rp sites and games, it seems a shame that most that I know never saw Seamas's work and I wanted to show it off.
As I said before I will of course honor his wishes, I'm just trying to explore any possibilities of making it a non-issue.

    ReplyDelete
  130. re: nicodemis

thank you for understanding...in terms of reconsidering, i have to stand by my previous decision to not allow these images to be used in any way...as for commissioning artwork for WoT, again, i think that could lead to legal matters, and i cannot do that...i have given the same polite answer to all who have in turn been kind enough to ask permission to use my images, so if you've seen these images on other websites, those people either never asked me, or just ignored my request not to use them :)...as to just removing the names of the characters so they become "random characters" in order to display them, i think that i would still feel uncomfortable having my art promoted as such--again, i do this for a living, and i'm not comfortable having my art used in a promotional way without some sort of compensation--especially not if legal matters could ensue...i am a simple being, and like j mentioned, i just want to avoid any and all possible legal consequences that could arise...:) i thank you, nicodemis, for being most respectful and diplomatic in all of this--in no way am i trying to be malicious or anything of the sort in my responses, and i appreciate your respecting my decisions--thank you--! :)

    re: j

thank you for breaking down the legalities and making them a bit more clear...much appreciated :)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Thankyou Seamas, I will continue to enjoy your works and look foward to seeing what else you conjure up. Feel free to keep visiting our site. Can we keep a link to your site for others to see your work.. again I understand if you do not wish it.

If you ever just have a rather general section of character renders I'd love to take use of them :)

    ReplyDelete
  132. I really love your drawings. Even when they look somewhat different to what I imagined, they are still astounding. Now, when I re-read the books, I imagine those characters more like your interpretations :) Tuon and Moggy are amazing, but my favourite has to be Perrin. More pictures of Perrin please! :D

It's already been said, but I'd definitely buy some to put on my wall!

    ReplyDelete
  133. hehe I commented waaay up near the top back in August and decided to pay a little visit to see if you came up with anything new since then - and wow! I just continue to be impressed over and over by your amazing attention to detail and gorgeous use of colour and shading. Clearly not only are you a fantastic artist, but also a very thorough reader and huge fan of WoT because there's no other way to capture the characters' likenesses so well.

I think I'll have to resume to regular visits to check for updates now :)

Thanks so much for sharing your art with us - and for free, no less, considering you're a professional. I wouldn't be surprised if you're approached by Tor at some point in the near future to do some sort of artbook for them. Just know that if something like that ever becomes a reality, I'll be the first in line to pick up a copy!

    ReplyDelete
  134. lovin the art. It seems like the Egwene you drew is of her as she is before she left the Two Rivers...still young and innocent. I would love to see an Egwene as Amyrlin Seat bein the badass that she is.
As everyone else I've got this bookmarked and check it often...please don't ever stop!

    ReplyDelete
  135. I adore your artwork!
The way you portray the characters is amazing and quite exact with what I imagined; besides, even when they don't exactly match, they're still recognizable, and, above all, incredibly beautiful! Keep it up, I'll be watching you and waiting for more.
I won't make suggestions since almost everything is already suggested, but if you count votes, mine are for Lanfear, Ilyena and Lews Therin.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Amazing drawings. The mat is just perfect and so is Perrin. This is just brilliant. Waiting anxiously for more. Lanfear maybe? or some of the Aiel?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Awesome work, you have a great hand, and your capture of the characters personalities is outstanding. Genius.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Great Rahvin... I wondered if you actually would take a shot at Lanfear, I had bet against it (no knock on your considerable talent, but.... damn), but I'll be glad to see that. Also, glad to see you back at it. Love the new banner.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Ravin kicks butt, I saw the image and it was like something clicked. I had been trying to envision him but it had been troublesome but your art made it snap into focus.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Oh boy... you blow my mind away yet again. Amazing Rahvin (esp. the lace). Waiting for the next one, though I have no idea how you're going to do her. There's been hardly anything written about Mesaana yet.

P.S. I'm linking to your blog. Let me know if you'd rather I don't.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Awesome work! I find myself logging in frequently during the week just to see if you have anything new! You have inspired me to start drawing again as well. These characters are just how I envisioned them when I read the series, keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Tall, powerful, dark, handsome. Perfect. Even the expression captures Rahvin perfectly. Your gallery of the Forsaken alone will be one of the great wonders of the WoT world to behold!!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Whoa... Logain kinda snuck in there didn't he? You're certainly making up for your long hiatus :) Looks awesome... I love the look of quiet meekness with an undertone that screams danger. I can almost see Min's vision just by looking at his face.

    ReplyDelete
  144. i like your work but especially perrin, but i think that mat looks to be a bit on the scrawny side i always thought of him as 5foot 10 and somwhat stocky with moderately broad shoulders. and rand looks really good but again.. too skinny, although well muscled i think that he kinda looks like a 15 yr old beside the forsaken when he is really closer to 22 and more of a man that that shows. i REALLY like allthe others though. great work!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Your Logain is great man. One of my favorites now along with Perrin, Graendal, Thom and Loial. Nicely done Rhavin...he is one i didn't ever spend much time picturing but nice to put a face to the name. Im gonna go back and read up on his appearance to get a better feel. Keep it up my friend can't wait to see Mesaana and Maybe another Balthamael and Aginor in their Aran'gar and Osan'gar forms...Halima and well i forget if Osangar takes a new name...im pretty sure not but i definitely wanna see Halima. And while we're on the subject of the reincarnated characters, might as well throw in Ishamael's new appearance as Moridin w/ the Black Flecks of the True Source in his eyes. Man thats a longer post than originally intended but solid in my assumation.

    -Devin

    ReplyDelete
  146. And while people are on the topic of making requests... :) I'd still like to see a Shaidar Haran done in this trading card form... I've got all of your work laid out and crammed together into a wallpaper and I'd love to have him in there.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Sneaking Logain in is just mean! I like him, although I think he could radiate more power and arrogance.

For those asking, there is actually a Shaidar Haran. You can find him if you scroll down a bit, along with a shadow hound and my personal favorite, a gardener. He's massive, calm but ready to split anybody in half who gets too close to the empress - may she live forever.

After you are through with all the characters (in roughly 2 years I guess, hehe) I think you should give Shaidar Haran another try though. Love your work, but there just isn't enough "shadow" about him (and too much neck).

Rahvin is spot on! Not many left and you've got them all!

I'd still love to see your take on some action or cities and landscapes (Aiel waste, borderlands, White Tower ect). Maybe even combining the two. I know it's a lot of work, but one can hope...

    ReplyDelete
  148. now i know why i couldn't place Rhavin....its cuz he is supposed to have a thin chinstrap and mustache im pretty sure...the rest is right on tho im gonna check now.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I know he's already done one... that's why I specified "in this trading card form" :)

    ReplyDelete
  150. Lanfear would be Awesome! Seamas is a genius.

The pictures in my mind of the characters so closely match what's he drawn out, and I've been reading the storyline for about 10 years now. Robert Jordan is my favorite author and I am so happy to have found this website last year.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I discovered your work in 11/07, and talk about you every time I speak about WoT to all french fans!
Seamas you are such a good artist!
Thanks for your work which is so close to what is in my mind!
Keep do what you do best : make us dream!

  152. re: zaheer

thanks for your kind words! i've kinda been toying around with the idea of seeing if i could get in contact with TOR or someone about making something like an art book or even just prints available--as i've stated before, i could not sell anything WoT related legally (or morally, at this point), without working something out with the robert jordan estate....perhaps that's something i should research a bit more...?

    re: loverlaydown

thanks! i have thought about doing several variants of certain characters--obviously some of them (the boys, egwene, etc...), have a HUGE character arc throughout the series, and it would be cool to portray them in the later/earlier stages of development...

    re: john

thanks for your kind words...! yes, i have been sort of putting off lanfear, like i said before, she'll be a tough one to nail down--perhaps when i finish mesaana i'll give it a go...? oh, and i think i'm still planning to do a "creature section" at some point, as well, in this format...fades, dark hounds, etc...

    re: storm

thanks for your comments...! thanks for linking me on your blog--:)

    re: dliwir

at some point i would like to try my hand at some environments/events...i just don't know when...:)

wow--again, thank you for all of your great comments--! and thanks for coming back to check up on the site--!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Seamas, I love your work. It is some of the most amazing fantasy art I've seen. I hope you aren't annoyed by suggestions, and I don't know if anyone else has mentioned these, but I would really love to see Artur Hawkwing, Gawyn, Tam al'Thor, and especially Rhuarc--Once you finish the Forsaken of course! I am an aspiring fantasy author myself, and you would definitely be my number one choice to commission for cover art.

    ReplyDelete
  154. yes, do research it more, mr. no pants! I for one would gladly fork over my money to have physical copies of this work. though, i have to wonder how you'll do teh master of disguise, demandred....

    ReplyDelete
  155. I have to say, if you were to come to some arrangement with TOR and the Jordan estate, poster size versions of these would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I saw Batman Begins last night, and if you were to give him red hair, Christian Bale is the spitting image of your Rand.

    ReplyDelete
  157. amazing...love em'...
all three ta'veren are amazingly done...almost exactly how i picture them...
Ishamael is awesome and so is Asmodean..
I must say, Logain and Mazrim are my favourites though, capture them perfectly...
definately my favourite WoT artist so far!!...very well done!

  158. Hey Seamas,

I've wondered often, and meant to ask you, but always forgot. How come the Myrrdraal, the dark hound, and the Ogier Gardner didn't go into this series?

  163. re: storm

well, in answer to your question--i had done the ogier/fade/darkhound prior to doing any of the human characters, and i hadn't really thought of a set "format" in which to present them--actually, i wasn't even planning on coloring the character sketches...i wanted to just do some real loose, more graphic representations of them--in fact, the first character i did was of julin sandar, but he never really turned out how i wanted, so i put him off...and i still haven't gotten back to him yet :) anyway, i started fooling around with some simple coloring on the characters i had, and it sort of spiraled out of my control--so, long story longer, i guess each character now turns out a bit more "polished" than my very first attempts...sorry for the lengthy reply--:)

    ReplyDelete
  164. I got to say really nice work on the characters.
Faile kinda reminds me of Vala from Stargate SG-1

  165. Amazing work! I'm utterly blown away by your talent. Makes me want to re-read all the books with your images in mind.

  166. Love your work! Thanks for Logain... you drew him so handsome, I wouldn't mind being bonded to him myself ;)

My other favourites are Perrin (the only painting of him I have found online that does him justice), Mat, Thom and Semirage. They are precisely how I imagined them and more. Thanks so much for them.

I'm a bit disappointed with Morgase, Moghedien and Siuan Sanche. Do you like drawing men better than women?

What are your favourite and least favourite paintings?

  167. Siuon is actually one of if not my favorite of them. I love how you took on the Forsaken. and almost all of them. Good luck with Lanfear though. you might pull it of with your style. Juillian would be awsome. have you thought about doing Hopper or maybe the eilfin and ailfin?

  168. Hey again. the first thing i did upon seein that mesaana, i am not even joking, was fall out of my chair. it's that good.

  169. Unbelievable Mesaana. You may have struggled but i believe this is one of your best depictions. Great job man.

  170. Seamas, can you talk about your approach with Mesaana? It's been a while since I read the books, so I'm not sure what scene or look this is depicting...is it when she appears to Alviarin? Very nice job, as always. I've bookmarked the Painting Potluck, too, and I always like your work the best!

  171. Great work on Mesaana! There is so little to work from regarding her appearance. Every time I read the books, the image of her in my mind changes.

    Logain looks amazing!
    Good luck on Lanfear!

  172. your work is awesome.

thanks for being dedicated to the wheel of time series and going through the characters.

  173. re: andrea

that's a good question--in answer to if i like drawing men more than women? i don't really have a preference--i guess it depends on the character...i would say that generally, it's a lot more fun to draw (in a general sense of the word) an "ugly" person (uno, gaidal cain) than it is to draw a "pretty" person (elayne, egwene, min, etc)--i find that you can get away with pushing the design a little more with a character who has strong features and/or physical attributes, rather than someone who is supposed to be good looking...

in terms of favorite/least favorite pieces--? well, i would say that i think some of them turned out more successful than others--for example, i think a more complex character that has a super involved story arc is going to be more difficult to portray than a character that is more of a peripheral character--obviously, with a more complex character, you're trying to imbue all the elements of the character into one, defining pose/design...whereas with a peripheral character, sometimes just adhering to a character's specific visual cue (i.e. a mustache, a top knot) is enough to sell the design...and lastly, the designs are just my own personal interpretation, which of course not everyone is going to have the same opinion :)....as a side note, though, it's great hearing what people like/dislike about the characters--it sometimes brings to light things i never even thought of--!

    re: beelkay

yes, sorry--i amended my post due to the fact i left that out :) so yes, she is depicted as she appears to alviarin--the silvery/shadow disguise she uses--perhaps in the next book there will be a good, clean description of her in her "human" form...?

    re: Kunsgnos

yes, i plan on getting to the eilfin/aelfin, and perhaps hopper, too--:)

again, thank you for your comments--!

  174. This is some great work. It looks like you put considerable time and thought into each piece. I especially like Perrin (best character of the series, and you definitely do him justice), Loial, Egwene and Bayle Domon (great emotion in his physical attitude and facial expression).

My favorite of them all, though, even after several months, is still Faile. Her pose is unexpected but natural, the costume adds to the character rather than detracting from it, and attention is guided upward to her confident but guarded face. You've done an awesome job of capturing her beauty mingled with her human imperfection--realistically stylized proportions (nose & mouth are great) that capture well Jordan's description of her. As a rider I'll also say that you've drawn her with excellent posture on horseback, something in which I'm sure the noble Faile would take some pride.

I'm rather jealous of your wacom tablet. I hope to save up & purchase my own one day (I didn't stay an illustration major long enough to justify it as an educational expense), but for now I'm still using pencil, ink, and scanner, only messing around in Elements when I've got time to spend hours screaming at my laptop touch pad.

Other than a few pieces by Adi Granov published in the WOT RPG game manual, Your work is the only WOT stuff I've seen that's really caught my eye. I know rights & licensing can be a tangled mess, but if the opportunity arises to pursue something with TOR, the Jordan estate, or whoever the license holder might be for various media forms, I would encourage you to go after it aggressively. There's a lot of shoddy work being done in fantasy illustration right now, and publishers in the end are just after what sells books & tie-ins. I think, especially with the response sampling on this page, there may well be someone somewhere in the chain of approval who would think your work would sell WOT merchandise better than much of the current branding art.

    Keep up the good work!

  175. Brilliant job again on Mesaana .. looking forward to Lanfear. This is amazing .. if they ever make an animated series on WoT (which they should by God) .. then you should be the animator .. such amazing work I have never seen

  176. Firstly I think your work is outstanding, truly. A question though, have you ever considered doing action clips from the books, like Dumai's Wells. That would really cool to see you interpret, especially with the blood and gore. It just seems that you can portray any character at any specific point in the story, so to see you integrate events in the story with your style would really be breathe-taking, I think. Please keep up the good work, I'm addicted to this page.

  177. No Asians yet? Please tell me you are at least going to make Juilin Asian? :(

Oh and I really like the work you've been putting out. Keep it up mate. Maybe you can get a deal with the publishers like Josh Kirby with the Discworld franchise. :)

  178. How about the Slayer? I've just been re-reading the books, and Isam seems like he needs an illustration.

Oh, and btw, your portraits are the best I have seen anywhere. Thanks and well done.

  179. You are my hero! These are all phenomenal. I am so impressed.

Question: How long does it take you to make one on average?
    You use photoshop right?

ok, i lied, it was 2 questions

  180. Your work has definitely helped put a face to the characters. The attention to detail is phenomenal. Thanks for all the updates and keep them coming.

  181. You're drawings are simply amazing. They have got to be the best Wheel of time art I've seen. I'd love to see some aiel warriors, perhaps gaul?

  182. Beautiful ! I believe Egwene has light brown hair. Mazrim and Faile should be Asian since their Saldean. Samirhage should have dark skin like Tuon. Otherwise, you are a demi-god of art. Thanks.

  183. Yes DeadChain, I do believe that Saldeans are Mongoloid with hooked (Romanish) noses.

  184. I've recently started reading WOT. I am in love with these books I'm about to book 5 right now. I went searching for some WOT art and found you. I feel as if I stumbled on a goldmine of inspiration. I havent been illustrating much in the past year or so but I picked it back up with the combined inspiration from you and the WOT books. I shall do some WOT work soon, hopefully. I've posted a link to your blog in my own newly created blog. You can check out my work there as it comes if you like.

I did have a question or two. I am 26 years old with a graphic design degree. I have considered myself an artist for as long as I can remember. I dont feel I that good but that is all opinion. I see a lot of artists like yourself with sketches and artworks that are drawn with confidence. Your sketches are made with clean strokes and you seem to know where the pencil is going. My work not so much. My lines are gone over several times as if I dont know where I want the pencil to go. It could be coordination, it could be just lack of talent. My question is this, would you ever do a video in which you sketch a piece much like one of your character concepts from start to finish. If you use a wacom could you do a screencapture video? I just want to get a feel for how you move the pencil. If you do not have the capabilities for such a video then do you have any pointers that would would give me a better idea. I would be more than happy to correspond through email if you were more comfortable with that. I know this is an odd request but I seek knowledge to better my own skills.

Thanks for giving us all something awesome to look at.

  187. I must say that I have searched the web for Wheel of Time art that captures me. Yours is the only art I have found that completely took me by storm! The drawings are incredible! Thanks for your work! AMAZING!

    Holding my breath for Lanfear!

  188. Amazing work. Perrin is one of my favourites, together with Uno, Semirhage and Logain. I had pictured them slightly differently, but I have to say that your depictions have overcome what I had imagined.

Gonna keep checking back for any more updates (hint hint ;-))
